The Center, located at A-B Tech's Enka site, is part of the NC BioNetwork and serves as a support organization for small business, industry, educators, and life science enterprises. The Center offers training in current good manufacturing practices (cGMP), covering documentation, conducting investigations, quality control, laboratory operations, and management responsibilities. Other training and business support services include natural products marketing, business feasibility, and strategic planning. Center staff also engages in outreach with schools, civic groups and community stakeholders. The staff works with public schools and early college students, providing career fairs as well as in-class programs and teacher support.

The Laboratory provides analytical testing services for botanicals, as well as identification and speciation. These analyses are performed using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC) and/or Mass Spectrometry (MS) and other techniques. Additionally the Lab provides rentable lab space for individuals and companies interested in product research, testing and development, and is available for product development consultation and prototyping.
