Red Wing Farm
About Us
We are a small farm in the beautiful Swannanoa Valley with a diverse market garden growing vegetables, herbs, and flowers. We specialize in heirloom varieties and are committed to ecologically responsible and sustainable growing practices. Our produce is naturally grown with no herbicides, fungicides, chemical pesticides, or petrochemical fertilizers. We cultivate, plant, and harvest from permanent raised beds by hand using human-powered and human-scale tools and practices. We incorporate permaculture principles and biointensive practices into the design and management of our homestead and gardens. We also keep chickens, laying ducks, and dairy goats as part of our integrated farm system. We begin with open-pollinated, heirloom seeds and are committed to preserving seed sovereignty and keeping food traditions alive. In addition to fresh produce, other products available seasonally are: garlic, potatoes, winter squash, dry beans, seeds and plants. We sell heirloom and open-pollinated vegetable, herb and flower plant starts at the Asheville Herb Festival and Growing in the Mountains plant sales in the spring. We sell eggs from our heritage breed chickens. We offer classes on organic gardening, simple living, food preservation, and related topics.
